“Maybe the ACLU should sell pj’s”, or “Trick or Treat”, or “The Emperor’s new PJ’s”

JUST after I wrote the post about ‘remnant prayer’, I came across an hilarious website that offered Armor of God Pyjama’s.
Hilarious, untill I realized these people are most likely serious about it. Just read it. I’m just speechless. Don’t know where to begin. Too crazy for words.
Okay, just one remark: see their about page and notice these two statements:
a. “although we are a new company, our desire is to grow” (followed by a lot of blah-blah, but what they want is to simply sell a lot of that crap .. I’m tempted to say “Holy Crap”).
b. “we believe in One God – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit”
ad. b: Armor-of-God-folks, if you keep up this kind of arithmetic, or rather, basic counting, you’re probably not going to achieve your goal mentioned ad. a.Â
Well, okay, maybe a second remark:
This whole idea was inspired by a mother reading Ephesians 6:10-18 to her children every night.
First of all, read it yourself here: imagine that this is read to you every night .. is that really going to give you a warm fuzzy feeling and helps you falling asleep feeling safe and well guarded? Flaming arrows from the evil ones? Would scare any kid shitless .. If they had a clue what it was all about.
But they don’t. They’re kids for crying out loud.
Heck, even mama doesn’t really understand what it is all about:
“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
See that Mam? That helmet and that sword? It’s a (difficult word: look it up mam!) ‘metaphor’. It doesn’t mean a real helmet or a real sword, it means (read it again!) “the word of God“, whatever that means, but most definitely it does not mean a pyjama!
It’s not about man to man combat (could ‘our struggle is not against flesh and blood‘ be anymore clear?)!
It’s about fighting rulers corrupting power. It’s simply telling you to join the ACLU.
Just join the ACLU and don’t turn your kids into the joke of the day by forcing them to wear moronic PJ’s.
Please? Mam?

I don’t know… I have mad respect for any God who would walk into battle in THAT armour.

I KNOW that you have a certain fondness of walking around in self-seamed funny clothes, but that these kids’ uniforms would instill mad devotion in you .. Courtly my friend.. *shakes head* I had no idea!
Uhhh. Errr. Well… gosh! It’s hard to know where to comment on this (or whether I should just keep my flippin’ mouth shut!).
First, assuming I bought these, and something happened to my child in their sleep – who do I sue? God, or the people marketing this?
Second, they should pray for my bandwidth – this is one of the slowest loading sites I have ever seen (I am sure they are putting it off as “extreme server demand” – but I’m thinking it’s running on DSL!
Finally I’m just out of the shower, and after seeing those kids wrapped in the ridiculous, I feel the need to head back to the shower and try to wash the *ick* off!

I would sue the sellers of the pj’s.
God has a near perfect track record when it comes to winning cases brought against him.
On the other hand, he has a horrible track record for paying up his court ordered dues!
I was just wondering: what do you give kids when they show up at your door dressed like this for Halloween?
Absolution? Confession? Chocolate covered candies shaped like Mother Theresa? – no, none of these – instead, give them the number to Child Protective Services and tell them they don’t HAVE to wear this crap!
How very sad to teach children that something so incredibly important as the lessons found there in that passage in Ephesians can be converted into some cheap, tacky clothing. It is clear that this mother’s “inspiration” was something other than her deep seated faith in the Word. blah.
