Pet peeves

“Pet peeves” is a new ‘category’ in my blog.
It will deal with minor things in my life that bug me, irritate me, annoy me or piss me off. They’re always petty things, nothing earth shattering and mentioning them here probably makes me come across as a whiner. It’s just the little stuff.
My first one is this:
If you pump gas, the nozzle usually has a little doohickey that keeps the handle in the ‘pump engaged’ position so that you don’t have to hold the nozzle all the time you’re pumping.
This is very handy, since it allows you to do other things while you’re pumping gas, like washing your windows, lighting a cigarette (hahahaha… just kidding) or looking on the map to see where the heck you are.
It’s also much appreciated by people with arthritis.
So, it annoyes me to no end, when I’m at a gas station, and someone has, for some completely insane reason, removed these handy little doohickeys! Why on earth would people do that? It’s there for a reason! Removed them to prevent spillage perhaps: utter nonsense, all the nozzles have some very sophisticated mechanism to make it stop pumping when your tank is full. Someone broke off these things just to annoy me. And it works. I have gotten very childish about it: when I get at a gas station and they removed these doohickeys .. I leave. If I’m driving on fumes (this is often the case, when I enter a gas stattion) I will pump gas for 2 or 3 bucks, and drive to the next gas station.

I am pleased to tell you that someone has invented something actually called a “Gas Doohickey” that does just exactly what you want! It’s plastic, anti-static and inexpensive! It is patented. The inventor Wayne Brown, lives in Jacksonville, FL. He works for Word of Life Ministries in Clay County Florida. He can hook you up, so to speak!
If ever I start a blog (Gartner probability 0.01), my Pet Peeve section will only have one entry (“stupid PC software”), but it will be a mile long, and will contain things like:
– (Outlook 2002) why can’t I simply drag-and-drop a contact to a distribution list?
– (Outlook 2002) why can’t I distinguish between multiple email addresses of a contact until I actually added it to the addressee list?
– (Flickr) in a simple “group” of pics, why does it take three non-obvious clicks to get to a slideshow?
– (Flickr) why is the natural order of photo’s “random”? Why can’t you easily choose which order you want (oldest first, latest first, by file name,…)?
etc…etc…etc…
@Injun:
1. I think you NEED a blog (and if you don’t have one already, an RSS reader too). Great way to vent! You’re just being lazy.
2. You have pictures on Flickr .. and I don’t know about that?
3. I KNOW you have more Pet Peeve categories than just one.
I do use an RSS reader, which immediately makes my P.P. list longer:
– (RSS Bandit) Why can I only use it to read blogs, but not post comments? (OK, I read somewhere it requires something on your blog side, but still?)
Picks on Flickr “zullen je geen flickr interesseren” I fear 🙂 (look up group Hooigaarde)
