Well, it still seems to be MS’s fault… IE 8 is (at long last) apparently much more standards based, forcing webmasters to adapt / eliminate the code that resides in their webpages specifically for IE browsers. At least, that’s what I heard, I did not research the issue (nor do I intend to 🙂
Both are to blame: Facebook is braindead for not even recognizing IE8, and telling me it’s IE6 (if ie_version != 7 then tell them to upgrade ??).
MS is to blame for releasing an IE version to hundreds of millions of people, and now months after the release, STILL not having addressed the fact that it screws up the rendering of HUGE numbers of websites, including some of the most popular ones (like facebook).
They cannot hide behind a ‘we are correct, as per the standards, so go rewrite all those million websites out there’. Well, I guess they CAN, but don’t expect to be the number one browser for much longer.
IDIOTS!
(I HAVE to downgrade to IE7, or use another browser altogether, which is probably what I’m going to do. IE8 simply isn’t usable. Chrome, here I come!)
My new buddies over at 040hosting fell victim to IE8’s horrible rendering as well (this is on a 24 inch monitor mind you!):
And this is an example of one of my facebook pages as rendered with IE8:
Honey, you need to move on from this. Please. It isn’t that big of a deal. K? Spurs game on TV. Whoot.
@Dawnell…
So I watched the Spurs …
They got slaughtered!
