A New Zealand couple, who wanted to register their newborn child, has been told that their selected name for the boy ‘4real’ is against the rules: Names cannot start with a number.<\/p>\n

Registrar-General Brian Clarke said the rules are designed to prevent names that are “likely to cause offense to a reasonable person.”<\/p>\n

How a name that starts with a number is likely to offend a reasonable person\u00c2\u00a0is anyone’s guess.<\/p>\n

Anyway, if the rule is going to be enforced, I’d like to suggest to the new parents to use Roman numerals:<\/p>\n
