They were, indeed, being executed for murder.
But they were (are) being persecuted for belonging to a non-state sanctioned sect.

As for the Chinese government’s persecution: China clearly isn’t a ‘free’ nation (yet). Somehow you’d expect that the Chinese government would sit back, while these ‘cult members’, as they’re deemed, kill eachother. I guess the Chinese government isn’t THAT perverted.

But anyway, yeah.. killing people for having a different view on religion .. where have I heard that before?
